Mendip Rocks! 2019 Brand Refresh
Jim from Mendip Hills AONB approached me to give the Mendip Rocks! 2019 Festival branding a refresh. I was chuffed to bits because this is exactly the sort of design work that I enjoy; encouraging people to get out and explore.
The festival celebrates 450 million years of geology in the Mendip Hills with events, talks, quarry tours and workshops supported by the Somerset Earth Science Centre. The existing branding had a charming quality but had been used for sometime and the festival needed to be modernised. I was to then create a roll fold leaflet and press advert using the new branding.
After talking to Jim, it was clear that they wanted to add a more contemporary look to the brand. I proposed the colour scheme below to match the target audience and create something a bit more captivating when sat next to similar leaflets.
I re-illustrated the rocky textures using a photograph of the dry stone wall outside the Mendip Hills office.
Jim and I agreed that a map showing the key locations of all the events finished the project off nicely. This shows that the festival covers a vast area so it doesn’t matter if you live in Frome or Weston.
