This week saw a mini beast from the east bring snow to the Mendip Hills. Over recent months I’ve found myself wanting to make the most of our modest but charming hills. There’s something about wanting to really own what’s on my doorstep, rather than spending money (and fuel) driving around. I also seem to have re-lit a landscape photography fire as I continue to define who I am as a photographer.
I’ve spent years questioning how I fit into documentary photography. I’m not a typical landscape photographer, instead I prefer to shoot handheld and document a scene realistically rather than create fine-art styled images.
I think my discord profile sums it up perfectly: [I’m a] Documentary photographer working on projects about identity and our relationships to the environment and society around us.
Anyway… with snow forecasted, I got up early with my X100V and headed up Black Down/Rickford.
