Illustrated custom maps and urban development plans are a brilliant way to get people moving outdoors. It is imperative that they’re informative, clear and easy to read. My design background is in Architecture where we’re taught to communicate efficiently but creatively.

How do I get routes on to a custom map or plan?

Thankfully Ordinance Survey provides fantastic levels of detail. I take what we need and re-draw this in Adobe Illustrator as a starting point. Then I add the relevant points of interest or annotations before drawing on the trails and paths that you decide are important.

What if my trail or path isn’t mapped?

No problem. Thanks to GPS I offer a service where I will go out and map this for you. I then download this data and use it to draw your custom paths on to your maps or development plans*.

What are urban development plans?

An urban development plan is something that architects, planners, construction firms, councils or even forestry commissions use to illustrate plans for up and coming projects to the public. They are often required as part of planning permission, yet are also a chance to display the benefits of the project which helps to offset any disruption during re-development.

How big can they be?

I draw everything in such a way that it can be scaled as big or small as you like without any pixelation.

How do I get my custom map or plan printed?

This all depends on the material that it’s being printed on. I am happy to work with you and liaise with the relevant manufacturer, signwriter or printer to ensure you have the best results delivered.

*Please note that due to GPS inaccuracies of my equipment, there is a tolerable level of deviation in any plotting that I obtain. I do this by taking multiple records of the routes and averaging them out to remove any anomalies in the data. This means they are for illustrative purposes which is fine for most scenarios. If your paths or trails go through sensitive or dangerous areas, then you will need to source a professional survey.
